My First Insights on 2020

2020 is almost over, only 12 days away. What. A. Year. I am amazed at the endurance and resilience people have shown.

More than ever before emotional intelligence has been at the forefront of all that we do.

Leadership traits such as empathy, inclusion, trust, and the ability to execute, deliver, and adapt stood the test of time and Covid.

Our capacity to ‘take it’ and ‘figure it out’ has definitely strengthen. I feel like I can be at the Justice League.

I would love to know your favorite books, quotes, hobbies, moments, words of wisdom, habits, etc. of 2020.

This year I have had the longest streak of daily meditation and journaling. I think I may have missed 1 day since March. It is now as ingrained in my routine as brushing my teeth in the morning.

I picked a new hobby and skill. Thanks to YouTube I learned some crochet stitches and I did several scarves, hats, and blankets. I never knew crocheting could be so relaxing.

I am very proud of my blog, of overcoming the gremlin disguised as writer’s block. Creating and sharing meaningful content has been a goal for several years. Who would have thought that 2020 would be THE year?!

When added together, my parents, my brother and I have had longer conversations via video than ever before. We talk every two weeks and time definitely flies.

I changed some furniture in my living room and found out I CAN figure out Ikea instructions. I am still siting on the sofa I put together back in April.

I realized that there is something in my deep core that propelled me to continue day in and day out even when I wanted to give up and thought there was no hope. Call it resilience, tenacity, grit, or a combination of all three (restengrit).

Finally, asking for and seeking help made me stronger, not weaker. I have always been proud of being self-sufficient. So much energy wasted! In 2020, I leaned in and let others support me in different capacities. Best decision ever!

Here are some of my favorite books, shows, and movies in 2020

  • Novels – Small Great Things, A Long Petal of the Sea
  • Non fiction – Your Best Year Ever, Developing the Leader Within You 2.0
  • Shows/Movies – The Stranger, Hillbilly Elegy, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Waco, Unforgotten

What experiences did you have in 2020? What were your favorite moments and things? Let us know in the comments. You can write in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French.
